Forever Victory can make use of a good draw to beat some poor opposition in a thin opening contest on this afternoon's Happy Valley card for which there is a fab $55 million Triple Trio jackpot.

The Alex Wong Yu-on-trained five-year-old has been racing consistently well all season without having much luck at all. Last time out, when staying on well to be eighth to It's My Day in a decent Class Three feature event over today's course and distance, he was completely beaten by drawing the extreme outside gate of 12.

Prior to that he was also trapped wide in the Class Three 1,200-metre sprint won by Ace Academy, having stayed on nicely on his debut. Today, with the demon Douglas Whyte aboard, he gets his chance from gate two and because he's not just down in grade but down into one of the least competitive Class Four sprints seen all season. The contest is either full of newcomers, out-of-form types or those who have yet to show any form and if they do it will probably be over farther.

In contrast, not only has Forever Victory been running respectably in much harder events, he has come out of his recent outing behind It's My Day working as fluently as ever.

Going down the card, the main form dangers appear to be Explosive Power and Love On Earth. Lombard has some improvement in him while Sai Kung Star should appreciate the easier company.

Lombard showed enough two starts ago to indicate he could place in such a modest Class Four event as this. Explosive Power has already run second in this company this season and must be rated one of the main dangers. Love On Earth hasn't been seen since his third on the dirt last time but doesn't take much work and is the type to go well fresh. Sai Kung Star is not racing well at all but you never know with him, he has natural speed and with the pressure in this race likely to be a lot less than he's faced in recent starts, he may just put in an improved showing.
