Spooky restaurant aims to conjure up cash for charity
Igor's in Western is leaving Hong Kong and moving to Singapore in style next month, but not before making its annual contribution to Operation Santa Claus.
The 'haunting' restaurant is planning a fund-raising farewell party on January 22.
'We're going all-out with an open bar, live entertainment from the Rolling Bones, dancing, face painting, and a showing of the Phantom of Igor's,' Jeannette Wong Ho-yee, public relations and marketing manager for the restaurant, said.
'It's a Monday night, so we're looking at quite a hangover the next day, but it's for charity, so it's worth it.' Igor's hopes to double last year's contribution and raise more than $200,000.
Tickets are available on 2108-4467. The $1,000 admission fee includes food, drinks, entertainment and transport to the venue via shuttle bus.
A large number of cheques have been appearing in Operation Santa mail bags lately, with yesterday's contributions totalling $90,100, bringing the total to $4,571,343.
Thanks go to the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, CMS Cameron McKenna, Mr and Mrs Famulak and to dozens of generous donors for their contributions.
Thanks also go to John Snelgrove of AXA China Region for his support and contributions at an RTHK-sponsored quiz night.
Special thanks are due to students and teachers at Shung Tak Catholic English College for their hard work in raising nearly $30,352 for Operation Santa, and also to students from Beacon Hill School and the Peak School.
