Unwelcome 'shopper'

I am concerned about an incident at the Wellcome Perkins Road supermarket, which occurred on the morning of Friday, January 26.

A customer was transporting her dog in a Wellcome basket that was then placed in a shopping trolley. Surely there are health regulations regarding animals being transported in conveyances used for foodstuffs intended for human consumption.

Secondly, when I mentioned this to a checkout staff member, another staff member was asked to look into the situation, a couple of times. And only after I mentioned lodging a complaint did she respond.

What is Wellcome's policy regarding animals in its supermarkets? And are staff trained to react when a customer makes a complaint like this? What guarantee do I have that someone else's pet pooch has not been travelling in my basket or trolley? I will not use this store until I am assured that all baskets and trolleys have been fully sanitised.
