DHL Worldwide Express

David Evans

DHL Worldwide Express has played down the impact on the firm's business of Hong Kong International Airport's planned new logistics centre. Last week, Tradeport Hong Kong - a consortium of European and Chinese companies - said it had won a contract to build a HK$530 million logistics facility at the airport. DHL operates an express logistics centre in Tseun Wan, 25 minutes drive from Chek Lap Kok. Andy Tseng, area director, Greater China, said that a logistics provider still needed to collect and deliver parcels, and DHL could offer that through its own airline and partnerships with commercial airlines. DHL said its Hong Kong business had grown by nearly 20 per cent last year.
