I was appalled by an episode of the Healing Hearts drama series on ATV Home on Friday which showed graphic violence.

A pregnant woman was assaulted and mugged and, as an apparent afterthought, repeatedly kicked in the stomach.

This was a little after 9pm, when most children in Hong Kong are probably still watching TV.

If this scene had occurred in a film, when people would be able to exercise their choice not to view based on reports of the contents, the episode would still have been shocking enough.

To show such mindless, gratuitous violence out of the blue, and at peak viewing time, is the most irresponsible piece of TV programming I can recall.
