Snub demoralising for schoolboy cricketers

I played in the Saturday Plate Final for the police on March 10 at the Hong Kong Cricket Club. Could the Hong Kong Cricket Association please tell me why there was no representation from the association at the final and why there was no presentation ceremony? If there wasn't an actual Plate trophy to hand, then why not give at least something by way of a token to both teams?

The losing finalists comprised mostly schoolboys from Island School. After a quick tea, they all left the club, there being no reason to hang around. The association must surely realise that these young men are the players of the future. The absence of any representative from the association and the lack of ceremony left a very bad feeling and was a complete anti-climax to what had otherwise been an entertaining afternoon for us cricketers.

The snub by the association, whether intended or not, showed bad management and manners by the association. Granted, it was not the highest standard of cricket nor was it the cup final, but that doesn't matter. After all, what do we pay our subscriptions of $400 for?
