Who, what, when and wear in Milan and Paris

Tim Lim

As any fashion groupie will tell you, the shows aren't as much about what's on the catwalk as who's on it, who's sitting in the front row and who's wearing what. Here are a few fashionistas who caught our eye:

Progress report Retail therapy was in order at Prada's Work In Progress exhibition, at which the company unveiled models and prototypes for new shops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo (below). Designed by cutting-edge architectural firms OMA/AMO Rem Koolhaas and Herzog & de Meuron, the projects include such innovative details as interactive glass changing rooms (right) that can make their doors and walls frost over at the touch of a button. A time-delay camera inside each allows customers a 360-degree view of what their new outfit looks like. Which begs the question: does the label really expect to sell anything? The New York shop, opening this autumn on the ground floor of the Guggenheim Soho, will also feature industrial display cages and 'wallpaper' commissioned from German artist Andreas Gursky.

To b or not to b? Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Givenchy ... Agnes b? She might not be a couturier, but when it comes to stuff most of us will actually wear Ms b is synonymous with French style (left). Her autumn/winter presentation, which took place during Paris fashion week, focused on several new themes, including 1960s suits, Beverly Hills, Edie Sedgwick and the Marquis de Sade. As always, the leathers were lovely ...
