Shell forces evacuation

More than 20 US Consulate staff and their families were evacuated from their quarters in Aberdeen after an 81mm World War II mortar shell was unearthed nearby. Bomb disposal officers were called shortly before 3.30pm, when a member of the consulate's staff found the relic behind the quarters in Shouson Hill Road while hiking. It was detonated at the scene.
