Officials promise improved service

I refer to the letter from William Lam (South China Morning Post, April 9), concerning water-disruption cases at Macdonnell and Kennedy roads.

As the Peak representative on the district council, I have followed these two cases closely. I have, on behalf of Mr Lam, liaised with and sought explanations from the Water Supplies Department (WSD). I have carefully considered the WSD's explanation about the difficulties of immediate water re-connection, and I accepted its explanation. The WSD has promised to improve its service and co-ordination between on-site engineers and staff at its customer-inquiry telephone centre. I will continue to monitor and check that it has kept its promise. Mr Lam should feel proud to be indirectly responsible for bringing about this promise.
