Hilton expansion

Hilton International will open five new hotels in the Middle East this year as part of an expansion in the region. Hilton will open hotels in Jeddah, in Ras al-Khaimah, Dubai and Cairo (two). The new properties will raise the number of Hilton hotels in the Middle East to 29, which includes 10 others in the Gulf and 14 in Egypt.

Omni Hotels, a luxury hotel chain, has launched its Ideal Living programme to help travellers stay fit. It features the Ideal Nourishment healthy menu, the 'Get Fit Kit' in-room exercise concept and upgraded in-hotel health clubs.

Extra seats

National carrier Air New Zealand will boost capacity to the South Island resort town of Queenstown after the collapse of privately-owned Qantas New Zealand last month. The extra capacity would include a direct flight from Auckland to Queenstown from June 28, the airline said. Air New Zealand also pledged to increase capacity to Invercargill and Dunedin, but did not specify when.
