Sichuan firm China C Net has won a telecoms licence from the Ministry of Information Industry, becoming the country's eighth telecoms provider and the first from the private sector. The Workers Daily said C Net would not compete in basic telecoms services like fixed line or mobile, but provide IP telephony, broadband Internet access, ISP access, computer information network services and value-added telecoms services to multi-media firms. Its licence allows it to provide international computer information network services in major cities.
