Expedition to meet Hong Kong's dolphins leaves lasting impression

I recently took part in dolphin watching organised by the Ocean Park Conservation Foundation. We travelled by boat to the waters around Sha Chau and Lung Kwu Chau to see Chinese white dolphins and finless porpoises.

The experience deepened my appreciation and affection for these beautiful sea mammals.

The pink colour of Chinese white dolphins is caused by the dilation of capillaries, which affects their colour.

Hong Kong's dolphin population is declining due to pollution, trawlers, decreased food supply and stranding. If we want our next generation to see these dolphins we must conserve the environment.
