Updated at 4.39pm, Saturday:
Officials are to investigate if possible human error or criminality led to the collapse of a concrete beam on a construction site which left one worker dead last Tuesday.

Commissioner for Labour Pamela Tan Kam Mi-wah said the department would work with the buildings officials to investigate the accident by putting the debris of the collapse back together again to work out what happened.

She said the collapsed concrete beam would be lifted and each piece of the metal support structure carefully re-assembled to mirror the conditions before the collapse.

''They will be re-assembled and put to the test to find out whether the cause of collapse lies in designs, materials, assembly or construction methods,'' Ms Tan said. ''Legal action would be taken against those held responsible for the accident if human error or violations of the law are found to have taken place,'' she said.

A preliminary report is expected to be finished in a month.
