More than 100,000 primary and secondary students have been whittled down to just a few dozen for the final today of a massive inter-school online quiz.

Sixty young brains from between Primary Three and Form Four will be pitted against each other in eight categories at the Yau Ma Tei Catholic Primary School.

Students from about 300 schools took part in the quiz, which has been running since April and was jointly organised by the Modern Educational Research Society, the Education Department and the Hong Kong Boys' and Girls' Association. The number of participants is triple that of last year.

In the previous rounds of competition, participants were asked to use the Internet to look up answers to questions set by the organising committee. Some schools even extended their computer rooms opening hours to let students work on the questions after school.
