Speech day provides chance to learn new lesson
GORDSON CHEUNG GING-YIN
It was one of the most important days in my life. Secretary for Education and Manpower Fanny Law Fan Chiu-fun had been invited to attend our school's 75th anniversary speech day.
As I was one of the prize-winners taking part in the musical performance, I felt very anxious. I could not sleep well the night before.
Finally, it was my turn to perform after the prize presentation. I walked on to the stage and was ready to perform. Just then, the microphone broke down.
I felt like a puppet without strings, standing on the stage with a pale face for a few seconds. Soon, the microphone was working again. But I could not recite my poem properly because I was frightened.
When the performance was over, I went in search of my mother and grandmother and told them about it. They told me it was a good chance for me to learn a lesson.
