WAP service online

Bank of America (Asia) yesterday launched mobile banking services through wireless application protocol (WAP) phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs). The bank expects at least 5,000 of its 20,000 customers who use its Internet banking services to take up the WAP option for inquiries, bill payment, fund transfers and other financial services. 'This new service is completely independent of its carrier and does not require any additional software, pre-registration or change of a SIM card,' said Samuel Tsien Wai-kee, bank president and chief executive.
