Torrential rain signals were raised for a record eighth consecutive day yesterday.

An Observatory spokesman warned of more wet weather to come, with a coastal low-pressure trough bringing heavy rain at least until the weekend.

Up to 200mm of rain was recorded in parts of the New Territories.

The current warning system was introduced in 1998. The previous highest number of consecutive rain warnings was four, from August 1 to 4 last year.
