The 60-voice Nortre Dame Glee Club from United States presents concert in Hong Kong
The famous 60-voice Notre Dame Glee Club, a collegiate male music group from the United States, has shown their musical excellence to Hong Kong audiences and shared some experiences of their college life.
Founded in 1915, the Notre Dame Glee Club presents a wide range of concert music from the medieval era to the 20th century, consisting of religious, folk and school songs.
The club has presented concerts in Canada, Puerto Rico, Ireland, England, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic. On its current Asian tour, the club has performed in Singapore, Bangkok, Beijing and Shanghai before coming to Hong Kong.
Members of the club said college life was a tough and challenging experience.
During the four years at college, they had to face a lot of changes.
However, they said if young people wanted to make the most of their college life, they should be brave and tackle the most difficult classes.
They encouraged students to be sociable, to get to know more people and make friends who could enrich their life.
Students may also actively seek out professors to gain extra knowledge outside the classroom.
'Just get involved in the various activities. You should not just stay in your room and bury your head in assignments. When you see your future boss, I'm sure he would like to know what your hobbies are aside from your academic performance,' said one of the members who was a freshman at the University of Notre Dame.
Another member said: 'Even though the university is famous, if you don't feel it's a family or easy about attending class, you won't enjoy campus life, and I'm sure your studies will be affected too.' The sharing session was organised by the Kaplan Education Centre for secondary students and their parents.
