Surfers beware as wily pornographers invade former site of bar association

A planned visit to the Web site of the Hong Kong Bar Association (HKBA) may lead to an unexpected detour to hardcore pornography sites Orgy Machine, Upskirt Teenies or Fatty Fatty.

The former Internet address of the HKBA has been taken over by a Russian porn-site operator, giving unsuspecting Web surfers an eyeful of explicit sex if they make a wrong turn.

The old site at hk-barristers.org redirects surfers to pornolio.com, which links to other sex sites and has a banner ad showing a nude woman behind bars with the text 'Serve a life sentence. Cum to sex prison'.

Douglas Yau, a member of HKBA's special committee on information technology, said the association was considering its options for dealing with what he termed a cyber-squatter.

'Although it's not too much of a concern right now, we have to think about the possible effect on our reputation,' he said.

Mr Yau said a complaint might be filed with the Internet Corp for Assigned Names and Numbers, the international agency that mediates in disputes over domain names.
