I refer to the letter by Richard Gibson headlined 'Anonymous hypocrite' (South China Morning Post, June 22).

Is Mr Gibson unable to imagine a situation where someone might wish to express a view, but cannot, for reasons of conflict of interest with their jobs, use their own name?

I often write to these columns as 'Name And Address Supplied'. It's not because I fear repercussions from my employer, but (as I am often interviewed by the press for work reasons) when I make a personal statement I do not want it to be viewed as the opinion of my boss.
