$5b sought for extra students

A $5 billion funding request for tertiary institutions will be put to Legco's finance committee by the Education and Manpower Bureau tomorrow. The funding would provide the institutions with loans for start-up programmes to cope with an expected increase in student numbers resulting from newly announced post-secondary places.
