The new Landis Tainan Hotel, scheduled to open at the end of this year, will soon establish itself as Tainan's most prominent landmark. It is in the heart of the commercial district, and close to Taiwan's largest shopping centre. The 257-room, 49-suite hotel is 30 minutes from the domestic airport, each room has a high-technology business working station. Rates are NT$5,600 (about HK$1,232) deluxe, NT$6,000 twin and NT$7,600 to NT$50,000 suites. These rates are subject to 10 per cent service charge.

Delta Air Lines is offering SkyMiles members reduced mileage award opportunities for travel to international destinations as part of a year-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of its frequent flyer programme. Reduced mileage award opportunities include select international destinations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Award Travel to these destinations has been reduced by up to 20,000 miles. These reduced mileage SkySaver Awards are good for round-trip Coach/Economy Class and Business/BusinessElite Class travel where applicable. Excellent adventures


Rosenbluth Interactive, an affiliate company of Rosenbluth International, has announced that its leisure travel site, Travelution.com, will publish a quarterly online magazine for customers. Entitled Travelution's Excellent Adventures, the consumer-oriented magazine will solicit personal travel stories, destination recommendations and tales of adventure from everyday travellers. Excellent Adventures will include editorial categories such as sun destinations, cruises, family holidays, weekend getaways and low-season specials. Within each category, the magazine will feature rotating and seasonal topics such as honeymoon ideas, spring break trips, frequent flyer deals and holiday getaway ideas. Travelution will also feature packaged products that relate to the magazine's editorial topics.

Design strategy


Hyatt Hotels has selected Critical Mass to develop the new design, functionality and technology platform for Hyatt.com and Hyatt's network of other sites in North America. Based in Calgary, Critical Mass is a world-class developer of Web sites and related marketing applications. Critical Mass will design and develop a state-of-the-art technology platform for Hyatt.com and Hyatt's other sites featuring personalised marketing and greater integration with Hyatt's Gold Passport programme. Customer profiles will enable targeted delivery of marketing content. The technology platform will incorporate Hyatt's growing number of Web sites in North America to provide unified design, functionality and content. Hyatt has more than 40 web Sites in North America and about 100 Web sites worldwide.

Calgary comfort


Superior Lodging has opened the first non-United States-based franchised Wingate Inn hotel. The four-story, 103-room hotel, in Calgary, Canada, features 30 extra-large suites, an indoor pool and water slide, free guestroom high-speed Internet access via Ethernet card-equipped laptop computers, and a variety of other guest-friendly amenities. Business and leisure travellers to the Wingate Inn will have the best of both worlds as the hotel is near corporate offices for Staples, Carolina Homes, Colgate-Palmolive and DaimlerChrysler Financial Services. Stay connected


Delta Connection carrier SkyWest is offering special fares to customers travelling between Santa Barbara, California, and most Delta destinations within the 48 states to inaugurate the new Santa Barbara regional jet service that begins on September 1. Effective immediately, customers may buy round-trip fares for travel up to 40 per cent off normal 21-day advance purchase fares on flights for travel from September 1 until October 31. The sale fares require a 14-day advance round-trip purchase and Saturday night stay, and tickets must be bought no later than August 31. SkyWest Airlines will begin service between Salt Lake City and Santa Barbara with two daily non-stop round-trip flights aboard Canadair Regional Jet aircraft.
