I recently paid a visit to Hong Kong from my remote corner of British Columbia.
My cheap Timex watch (bought some six years ago in Star House, Tsim Sha Tsui) had died just before my trip, and I thought I would pick up another one while in Hong Kong, reasoning that both the cost and selection would surely be better. However, I couldn't find a Timex, from the meagre display, for less than double the cost of the same model in Canada.
Back home, I bought a decent Timex for C$38 (about HK$191) in a store. It comes with a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy, in addition to the normal one year's warranty. I noticed that although the watch was made in the Philippines, the cheap plastic strap is emblazoned with the words 'Made in Hong Kong'. That says it all, really.
