Records galore at swimming gala
A sense of timing is important not only to competitors, but to organisers.
Ying Wa College's annual inter-house swimming gala was held earlier than usual this year despite bad weather and severe time constraints.
But thanks to the determination of staff and participants it went ahead as planned.
'We worked under great pressure. Everything, from printing and distribution of reply slips, to scheduling of events and setting lanes had to be finished within six school days,' said Pong Yiu-wing, the school's sports master.
There were new records galore and Milne House walked off with the championship.
Guest-of-honour Dr Luk Hung-to, chief of service in the Department of Surgery at Princess Margaret Hospital, urged students to make good use of school facilities.
Seven records were set:
4x50 m Individual Medley: Chan Lok-yan (Milne House) 2 minutes, 30.32 seconds
50 m Butterfly: Chan Lok-yan (Milne House) 28.56 sec.
100 m Freestyle: Chan Lok-yan (Milne House) 58.68 sec.
200 m Freestyle: Man Ling-ho (Morrison House) 2 min 16.82 sec.
100 m Backstroke: Luk Tsz-chung (Leung Faat) 1 min 16.57 sec.
50 m Butterfly: Chiu Tsz-wang (Milne House) 28.52 sec.
200 m Freestyle: Chiu Tsz-wang (Milne House) 2 min 17.72 sec.
