John Size capped a good week yesterday with the news that he would be taking over the training of Australian Group One winner Desert Eagle, who has been purchased to do his future racing in Hong Kong. 'Desert Eagle was bought by a guy called Peter Law, who does not have any horses with me, but he is a very exciting horse to have joining the stable,' Size said.

Four-year-old Desert Eagle has an excellent record in a 16-start career in Australia, including several group race wins last season, but he put himself into the top bracket during the Melbourne Cup carnival by winning the Group One Emirates Stakes (1,600m). 'He won with a light weight, but his record suggests he has never taken a backward step in his career, he has always progressed and has been very genuine,' Size said.

'Obviously, the big thing with any horse is that he has to acclimatise here, but he will probably come early in the New Year and hopefully he will adapt and give us another potential top-grade winner.'
