A mainland friend of mine recently visited Hong Kong on a package tour and was astonished by his experience.

He was upset by the impoliteness, arrogance and discriminatory attitudes of the people he met, including an irresponsible tour guide. On one tour he felt he was being ripped off by the shops to which he was taken. I actually witnessed some of this mistreatment.

I think the intensive tourism promotion efforts of the SAR Government are being seriously undermined by some unscrupulous members of the tourist trade.
