A robber escaped with $960 in cash from a Mobil petrol station in Tuen Mun after throwing thinner over an employee and threatening to set him on fire, police said.

The 42-year-old employee handed over money from a cash register at the Lam Tei Main Street station at 4.30am after the robber lit a cigarette and threatened to set the thinner alight.
