State giant in top-level revamp
Power monopoly State Power Corp has announced a large-scale management shake-up in its latest move to liberalise the colossal power sector.
The corporation, which owns half the country's 300 gigawatts installed capacity, has replaced 10 key positions in provincial and city departments.
The positions affected include vice-president of the corporation's international division, president of Chongqing Power Corp and vice-president of the Shanghai Power Corp.
The president and vice-president of Jiangxi province and head of auditing in five provinces - Anhui, Henan, Jiangxu, Zhejiang and Sichuan - were also replaced.
The management reshuffle follows last week's appointment of Li Xiaopeng as vice-president of the State Power Corp.
Mr Li, the eldest son of China National People's Congress chairman Li Peng, is chairman of Huaneng International Power, China's largest independent power producer.
Analysts said the recent appointment marked a significant step forward for the state's power reform.
