I refer to the report headlined 'Bee Gees asking price dashes concert hopes' (South China Morning Post, January 18).
I fondly remember the first Bee Gees concert in 1972 in the old Hong Kong Stadium. We sat in the open on stone seats. But we didn't mind the discomfort, because the Bee Gees were singing accompanied by an orchestra. The concert was organised by promoter Pato Leung.
The seat prices of that Bee Gees concert were not that expensive and all Bee Gees fans were happy to pay. The same was true with the Elton John concert in Hong Kong in November.
I really hope the SAR Government can do something to encourage showbusiness promoters around the world to bring more international artists to Hong Kong as it will help the SAR's tourism industry.
