Taxis replace rat race

As I was shuffling along Haiphong Road in Tsim Sha Tsui last year, shoulder to shoulder with a mass of hurrying people packed on to a ridiculously narrow pavement, I happened to look down and scuttling along with us, was a very large rat - a literal manifestation of the rat race.

Since the pavements in Tsim Sha Tsui have been widened and trees planted in Hankow Road that awful feeling of being in a terrible rat race has gone and given way to a more pleasant feeling. You can now stroll around that fascinating area taking in the mosaic of sights and even finding time to glance up at the beautiful canopy of banyan trees arching over Haiphong Road. So thank you to the authorities concerned.

Could these authorities now please do something to silence the rows of angry metallic taxis that clog the one-way streets at night and honk away on their horns like a gaggle of enraged geese - people do live and sleep in that area and the noise taxis make is enough to waken Rome.
