A phone call away

It is great to see that the police have discovered how to use the phone system ('Taxi drivers to turn crime fighters', South China Morning Post, February 8).


We now have one central phone number for taxi drivers to report trouble. Having discovered the power of technology, it is time the police put in place one central inquiry number for non emergencies. It has been asked for in these columns several times before, and it would stop the police whining about the many non-emergency calls to 999.
