If you want to sample the food of top Hong Kong restaurants and hotels - and donate money to a good cause - reserve your tickets now for the annual Great Chefs of Hong Kong fundraiser. The event takes place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wan Chai on March 11, with proceeds going to the Heep Hong Society, which provides education for children with special needs. Participating restaurants and hotels include Cafe Deco, Kokage, M at the Fringe, Milano Italian Restaurant and W's Entrecote. The event costs $500, which entitles ticket holders to three hours of unlimited eating and drinking as well as music and entertainment. The International Wine Centre (IWC) will hold a series of six dinners pairing wines with various cuisines. The series starts on March 11 and the fee is $4,800 for the entire course. Subjects cover 'wooded and unwooded wine debate' with an eight-course Cantonese banquet at the House of Canton in Lee Gardens; 'sake or champagne' with a traditional Japanese dinner at Ichikawa in Pacific Place; 'which wine is better than beer' with authentic Thai food at the IWC and 'Italian wine with Italian food - break the rules' at Grissini in the Grand Hyatt. Zeffirino Ristorante at the Regal Hong Kong Hotel in Causeway Bay will hold a five-course Castello di Querceto wine dinner on Thursday. The dinner includes pappardelle pasta with braised beef and mushroom sauce paired with the winery's Chianti Classico Riserva 1995 and pan-fried beef sirloin in black truffle sauce with the La Corte 1990.
