Inspired by the correspondence arising from Angus Harden's report of cuckoo sighting ('Spring in the air?' South China Morning Post, February 23), I am delighted to share my first sighting on Saturday of a British expatriate hawking 'top class' jewellery items from a suitcase on the junction of Nathan and Kimberley Roads.

As I marvelled at this vision, it fled, seemingly alarmed by the none-too-light footsteps of an approaching policeman. I fear this rare sighting may become more common.
