Sports fans often faced with long wait

Several letters have appeared in your columns recently, criticising the services provided on the English channels of our local TV stations.

I believe that, providing one has access to Cable TV, we do not do so badly, especially considering native English speakers are such a small minority of the total viewing public. However, I am sure the relevant TV stations would make a lot of people happy, if they could consider rectifying a few minor anomalies.

Why does RTHK insist on putting Hong Kong Connection up against ATV's Inside Story at the same time on Tuesday evenings?

There are too few well-produced programmes of this nature, to have to choose between watching one or the other.

Many of us appreciate Star Sports broadcasting less popular sports such as cricket and rugby. But why must they often wait a couple of days before doing so?

Take, for example, the New Zealand v England Test cricket series. The first day was March 13. Highlights were not shown until 1am on March 15. Sometimes I must avoid seeing accounts on both TV and in the newspapers for two or three days in order to enjoy the programmes.
