Guangdong Governor urges new co-operation on trade

Relations between Guangdong and the SAR on trade and production should change to cope with developments on the mainland, Guangdong officials said yesterday. The call was made on the third day of Chief Secretary Donald Tsang Yam-kuen's tour of the Pearl River Delta.

Guangdong Governor Lu Ruihua said: 'This new thinking is not simply extending the opening hours of border check-points but new kinds of co-operation.' Mr Tsang said that since the SAR had excellent port facilities, it could act as 'a window' to export mainland goods.
