Government has shown no compassion

Some of your correspondents want the right-of-abode seekers to 'obey the law', shut up, and go away.

They should recognise that they and the SAR Government lost all rights to preach about obeying the law after the Government decided not to abide by the judgment of the SAR's highest court for the sake of convenience. After achieving its objective by this means, the least the Government can do is show magnanimity and consider carefully each case of the mere 4,000-odd people it has to deal with.

It is appalling that the administration has shown no magnanimity or compassion even in cases where children are to be separated from their families, as reported very properly in the Post. Your paper must keep on reporting on this important issue.
