Early pool closure was unavoidable

I refer to the letter by Gareth Jones regarding the closure of the outdoor pools at Morrison Hill (South China Morning Post, April 15).

The Morrison Hill complex comprises one outdoor teaching pool, one outdoor toddlers' fun pool, and one indoor main and one training pool. Normally all the pools are open throughout the year except for May and June when the whole complex is closed for annual maintenance.

However, in order to carry out major relocation works of underground water pipes in the complex, the outdoor pools had to be closed one month earlier on April 2.

Nevertheless, the indoor pools will stay open until May 1. We expect all maintenance work at the complex to be completed before the beginning of the peak swimming season in July.
