Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School was filled with a multitude of colours at a parade of its uniform groups earlier this month.

Members of the Scouts, Civil Aid Service, Girls' Brigade, Girl Guides, Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Unit, Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps and Road Safety Patrol took part in the ceremony.

Guests-of-honour including Road Safety Patrol commander (New Territories South Region) Luk Choi-lung, Education Department principal education officer Lam Kam-fung and chairman of the school management committee Lee Sai-kin officiated at the parade.

Principal Hung Chun-may said: 'Students certainly benefit from participating in this kind of meaningful activity. It is my hope that every student in this school will become a member of at least one uniform group.'

After the national anthem and raising of the national flag, guests inspected the groups who stood in solemn silence. Guests, teachers and parents were impressed by the students' strict discipline.

The day also marked the opening of the Parents-Teachers Association Luk Choi Lung Room. Mr Luk, who had donated funds to install lighting and a ventilation system in the room, presented an oversized model key to Mr Lee. The room will be used for Alumni Association activities, counselling and other purposes.
