Unsightly numbering a form of vandalism

Mui Shue Hang playground near Tai Wo is a well-kept, almost pristine, park that has approximately 1,461 trees.

I know this number as, about two years ago, each tree had a large white number painted upon it that was clearly visible to all.

At the time, I assumed the authorities responsible for such vandalism had at least left their tag using a material that would be temporary.

How naive I was. Not only are the numbers still there as an eyesore, their like can be found throughout the SAR.

Maybe the responsible government department can inform readers how this vandalism differs from the graffiti gangs' 'tags' that are gradually permeating areas throughout Hong Kong. Indeed, in cases like this, it seems that the authorities are surely leading by example.
