A suspected drink-driver was released on $5,000 bail after being arrested following a high-speed chase from Fanling to Yuen Long early yesterday. The 14km chase began when a police van tried to stop a car in Wah Ming Estate, Fanling, at about 1am and the vehicle with two men inside sped off.

It jumped two red lights in Wah Ming Street and Pak Wo Road, and went into the wrong lane in Jockey Club Road, Fanling, before making a U-turn in front of a police road block near a roundabout in Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long. The car finally stopped at about 1.30am in Castle Peak Road and its 39-year-old driver was arrested after failing a breath test. The passenger fled.
