Railings installed

I refer to the letter headlined 'Causing congestion' (South China Morning Post, May 4).

Your correspondent complained about vehicles using the section on Garden Road next to the Cheung Kong Centre, as a stop zone and thereby exacerbating traffic congestion.

These concerns were duly noted by the Transport Department.

In fact, railings have already been installed at this location to discourage loading and unloading activities.

We will continue to monitor the traffic situation there. When it is deemed necessary, we will consider extending the 24-hour no-stopping restriction zone from Queensway to the entrance of St John's Cathedral.
