Inspirations for drama success

Henry Chan

A trip to the library turned out to be the secret of our success in a recent Form Four drama competition.

Our English teacher had split us into groups and given us the task of writing a script to be acted out on stage.

We had several days to prepare for the production. Every day our group met, and every day we changed our minds about the stories and the characters. We met one evening and again fell into a rut of ideas when someone suggested we go to the library. We chose three books and put them on the table. Then, the seven of us started to think of stories linking up the three book covers. Our story was finally written.

The effort paid off when our group collected awards for best play, best English proficiency, best stage effect, best actor and best supporting actor. The highlight for me was being named best actor and getting to wear a Primary Six uniform, tight shorts and all.

But the best prize was the friendships I made with my classmates and I really want to thank them for all their hard work.

The competition has ended and everything is back to normal now. I guess I better spend more time on my studies and make an effort to do well.
