Speeding at Smithfield

I refer to the letter headlined 'Noise nuisance' (South China Morning Post, May 17) regarding the intermittent noise generated by speeding motorists at Smithfield Extension at night.


The key concern of your reader is about noise from speeding or illegal road racing at night. This comes under the Road Traffic Ordinance and is being tackled by the police. We have liaised with the police and are given to understand that they have conducted enforcement actions against speeding at Smithfield Extension in recent months and will continue their efforts in this regard.
