$105m gain in first year

GROUP Sense (International), the electronics manufacturer responsible for the Instant-Dict translation machines, has announced its first annual profits as a listed company of $105 million, and has revealed an extraordinary item of $21 million on the interest from its share sale.

The company also said it was shifting its production facilities from Bao'an, Shenzhen, to much larger ones in Dongguan, with the first phase of the new facility expected to be ready by early 1994.

The shares were offered in January at $1.02 each, and were oversubscribed about 280 times, tying up $50 billion.
