Last seen on Nascar racers and fighter pilots, the all-in-one made its way down runways of a different sort for summer, most notably those of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Raf Simons and Louis Vuitton (where it was worn, unzipped, with a smart jacket and shoes).

Less sleek, but equally ubiquitous, is the coverall's working-class cousin, the boiler suit. It showed up chez Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto and Diesel after being picked up by inner-city posses and porn stars. What to wear with it? A cool pair of trainers, a T-shirt and - if authenticity is what you're after - a big keyring for added bling-bling.
