I refer to the Reuters report headlined 'Scientologists face 'flurry of lawsuits' ' (South China Morning Post, May 13), regarding a 'former Scientologist [Lawrence Wollersheim] who received US$8.7 million . . . from the organisation 22 years after first suing it for mental abuse'.
The lawsuit, in the US, concerned events that allegedly happened more than 30 years ago. The Church of Scientology wanted to finalise the matter and so it paid the court, not Mr Wollersheim, direct.
Regarding allegations of mental abuse, Scientology helps people think more clearly and puts order in their lives.
