Punks: Queen is a moron

London (June 14): Britons have been angered and embarrassed in Silver Jubilee week by a big-selling pop record which calls Queen Elizabeth a moron.

The disc, part of the new 'punk rock' craze, has been pointedly ignored by radio disc jockeys who are usually vital to a record's success, and many record shops have refused to stock it.

Performed by the Sex Pistols, most publicised of the punk rock groups, it contains the lines: 'God save the Queen - a fascist regime made you a moron.'

Sociologists explain the year-old punk rock cult by pointing to Britain's depressed economic state.

Airline ban

Hongkong (June 17): Hongkong may have to prohibit operations by American airlines at Kai Tak if a new transport treaty between the United States and Britain is not concluded by next Wednesday's deadline.

A report from Washington says that Hongkong, being a British colony, falls under the agreement. The report adds that Pan American is proposing to switch its Hongkong flights to Taiwan if the treaty deadlock is not broken in time.
