Station knows what subscribers want
I refer to the letter by Neil Kennedy regarding Cable TV's coverage of the World Cup (South China Morning Post, June 19).
What arrogance to assume that the pundits on Go, Go, Goal are uneducated. May I ask Mr Kennedy how he arrives at that conclusion? Though I am no fan of the current format, I do know that at least one of the main hosts also hosted the last World Cup.
Additionally, the majority of guests are either current or ex-Hong Kong football players. It is also worth noting that the English half-time analysis for last season's English Premier League was from ESPN (in Singapore). When Cable previously covered the Premier League themselves, the half-time coverage was in Cantonese, which is as it should be for a local production.
I am sure that Cable TV understands what the majority of subscribers want to see and their production reflects that. Trust me, a few expat complainers will not do anything except draw out the 'gweilos out' fanatics.
Live with it, at least the commentary is in Nicam.
