Size matters for hotel spa

The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong hotel is planning to rip out its entire 11th floor to build the SAR's biggest luxury spa. The $30-million project - which has until now been more tightly under wraps than a socialite in seaweed - will be completed by the middle of next year.

The Grand Hyatt already boasts the largest hotel pool in Hong Kong. With the new spa on the same floor, freshly massaged guests will be able to potter in their fluffy bathrobes from treatment room to the pool. The hotel's general manager Robert Barker described plans as 'substantial' and promised the design and staffing levels of the new spa would be in keeping with the 'highest Hyatt international standards'.

The profit won't be bad either. A fully booked spa treatment room can earn six times more than a hotel bedroom. Relaxing.
