Summer full of challenge

Former Shao Lin Monastery students will take part in Water Margin, a fund-raising production organised by the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association and the Hong Kong Dance Company.

The show will be staged on July 26 and is one of several self-development programmes held by the association as part of its 'Together We Serve - Youth Challenge Project'.

Another part of the project is an outdoor programme of swimming, cycling, mountain climbing, canoeing and camping called Team Challenge.

It will be held between July 12 and 14 and will involve young people aged between 16 and 25.

Funds raised from the project will be used to refurbish rural schools on the mainland. Participants in the project will also perform voluntary service at the mainland schools.

The project has four goals: to encourage youth to challenge themselves in difficult situations, to learn how to co-operate, to make connections with those in need in the community and to appreciate what they have in their lives.

The themes of the Water Margin dance production and the Team Challenge are 'All Men are Brothers' and 'Unity is Power', respectively.
